Hexagonal leather concertina cases made from new seem to be in short supply, so here is the solution.
The examples shown are made to fit specific concertinas, and it is possible to do this remotely, entirely using the customer’s own measurements (i.e. a ‘fitting’ is not necessary). The design combines the best bits of several 19th century designs, with a few tweaks and some up-to-date padding technology!
Cases illustrated are padded inside using 12mm plastazote, lined in red or green suede; just two of many colours available. Two channels of 6mm plastazote provide cut-outs for the areas where the handles are riveted onto the body of the instrument.
Chunky grab handles have been provided, to make carrying the case easy. The locks are handmade to a traditional design in the West Midlands by Listons, who are said to be the last manufacturer in the UK of this kind of thing.
Obviously all cases are made to measure, and can be customised by using different leather colours etc., so please get in touch to discuss your requirements. Typical cost for this item is around £350.
