Adjustable hurdy gurdy strap available in several colours as standard; or made from un-dyed leather which can be tooled, dyed, painted etc. to order (please contact me for a price: as a guide, tooled gurdy straps are generally about £150).
The strap is made of two parts: the wider part is a generous 4″ wide, with a substantial separate ‘tail piece’ offering adjustment to the overall length ranging from 765mm to 965mm peg to peg. Longer lengths can be accommodated, but this customisation may incur a small extra cost.
Gurdy straps are made from durable leather of about 3mm thickness which is supplied with a clean undyed finish or fully finished on the flesh (reverse) side. Both parts have gothic-type detailing to the ends.
A standard brown strap is pictured, along with several examples of tooling with medieval themes.
Holes are punched in the ends of both the main strap and the tail piece, these have a diameter of 10mm (3/8″ in old money) and with a 16mm relief cut (5/8″-ish) which seems to be suitable for a fairly wide range of peg types. If you need a different sized hole and/or relief cut, this can be accommodated free of charge. Please mention this when ordering; or enter such information in the ‘Order Notes’ box at the checkout if buying online.
A highly customisable item; please get in touch if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary.
